The NYSSRC is initiating its 2024 Board elections, urging all members to vote between March 6th and March 26th. Eligibility requires active AARC membership with a New York address as of March 1st. Participation is critical to meet bylaw requirements and write-ins are permitted.
In 1992, New York recognized respiratory therapy as a licensed profession. To keep up with advancements in medical care, legislation is being pursued to require respiratory therapists to hold a bachelor’s degree, ensuring they are well-prepared to manage complex cardiac and pulmonary disorders and improve patient outcomes.
Recent associate degree graduates interested in pursuing a baccalaureate degree in respiratory therapy should ensure that their chosen program, whether online or in person, is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC), as recommended by the New York State Society for Respiratory Care.
