Ad Hoc Committee for Academic Advancement Updates

The NYSSRC Ad Hoc Committee is actively advancing the BSin RT entry-level standard in NY State by engaging legislators, merging task forces, and planning summits.

The NYSSRC Ad Hoc Committee has finalized legislation to promote a BS in Respiratory Therapy in NYS, now seeking legislative support.

The legislation has been drafted as it is currently being finalized. The committee will now prioritize gaining support for the initiative and addressing barriers for AS and AAS programs.

The committee’s efforts were halted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The co-chairs will be resuming efforts in the coming weeks.

On November 21, 2019, the NYSSRC convened a summit at BMCC to spearhead the BS in Respiratory Therapy initiative, establishing an ad hoc committee for continued planning and legislative development.
